Frequently Asked Questions
If any equipment could have incidental contact with food — conveyors, slicers, mixers, packaging machinery — MPI and HACCP food safety requirements mean you need a certified food grade lubricant. The MAC Siliglide Food Grade range meets this requirement. Contact our technical team if you need help confirming the right product for your audit requirements.
Both provide effective silicone lubrication. The difference is certification — MAC Siliglide Food Grade is approved for use where incidental food contact may occur. Standard MAC Siliglide is for general industrial use where food contact compliance is not required. Contact our technical team before ordering if you are unsure which applies to your operation.
Silicone lubricants are safe for most rubber, plastic and metal surfaces. However in certain environments — automotive finishing, electronics production, some plastics fabrication and printable packaging — any silicone contamination causes surface defects or process issues. For those applications, MAC Glide Silicone-Free is the correct choice.
